About / Sk8 Camp

It was June 2000 when I ventured on a company trip to Chicago to visit accounts for Progression Video Magazine. The dude I was traveling with was out there and super unorganized. We flew from SD to Chicago for 1 night then would round off the trip with a flight to Miami where we would get a car and drive the entire east coast. This was my first trip with any company and I was ready. We got to Chicago in the afternoon and had no place to stay and only address's of shops in the area. Our first stop was at a shop called "Push". When we arrived at the store it was just the best vibe i had ever felt in a shop. The location was right in the middle of downtown Chicago! the owner of the store Reggie Destin was the most humble skater I had ever met. He and I clicked right away. The shop was small but had so much flavor I felt like I had found the shop of all shops. Reggie took care of us from the moment we got there until we parted ways at 3 am . He hooked us up with the fellas from Uprise and they housed us for the night. Reggie hooked me up with all kinds of Push product like a tee, hoodie, belt, and stickers! I still own all these items today minus the stickers. Reggie had to close the shop I think around 2002. Reggie then went on to work at Girl and we stayed in contact as I had been hired at Shortys and Osiris. Fast forward to 2008. I was hired in 2006 by CCS mailorder and thought this is it my dream job! I am never leaving! But then CCS wasn't all I thought they were going to be. Corporations do not belong in skateboarding straight up! CCS really doesn't care about skateboarding they only care about $$$. I had the CFO of the company ask me " Why do we even need a team?" The entire time I worked there I would always think "Damn I wanna open my own store" So when my walking papers came right before the ASR show in Sept 2008 I started the process. One thing i was having a hard time with was the "NAME". Then in Jan 2009 I thought why not ask reggie for his blessing to bring Push back! Reggie was super physced that I had asked his permission. He was so down for me to run with it and now were here today about to open and watch my dream come alive. I just hope I can bring that same vibe that the O.G. Push had when I first walked into it back in 2000... thanks for the support Reggie and I hope everyone enjoys this REAL skateboard shop experience!
